Robert Sheehan, Ronan Raftery
A post-apocalyptic drama where large cities on giant wheels survive by eating smaller cities to steal their resources and fuel. The film is produced Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings) and stars Hugo Weaving (The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring), Frankie Adams (One Thousand Ropes) and Stephen Lang (Avatar).
Set in post-apocalyptic Britain, a past nuclear exchange between America and China known as the Sixty Minute War has destroyed civilisation as we know it. Now all that’s left is an area known as the “The Great Hunting Ground” where the surviving European and Asian continents live.
Since then, civilisation has manifested itself around “traction cities”, large cities built on huge wheels or caterpillar tracks. These large cities eat smaller cities to steal their resources and devour them by dragging them through their mechanic jaws and into their gut.
The film centres around apprentice historian, Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan) and Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar) who are on a mission to foil forthcoming plans made by Thaddeus Valentine (Hugo Weaving), the head of London’s Guild of Historians.
